Yoga and Running

On Wednesday night we will be meeting at LuLu Lemon in downtown Raleigh for a group run.  We are meeting at 5:30 and 6:00.  We are excited to be beginning a new relationship with lululemon.  Lululemon is a leader in yoga apparel and is an integral part of the fitness community in Raleigh.  We will be doing a short run, normally the run will be followed by a yoga session, but unfortunately not this week.  Stay updated by checking back to this site and our facebook page or twitter (@FCAcademy) as we will be visiting other yoga studios around the triangle each week!

Yoga is becoming increasingly popular in the world of runners.  As old fashioned static stretching is all but a thing of the past, the dynamic movements and relaxation of yoga are the next big thing.  Not only does yoga help increase flexibility, it is also an amazing core workout.  Bending and twisting and balancing aren't typically skills that runners are good at (just show up to one of these yoga sessions and you will see:).  But having a strong core is one of the most important, and most over looked, aspect of running.  Being strong in your core (your hips, butt, back and abs) dramatically improves form, stride length, running economy, and breathing.  So, next time we offer a run and yoga session, you should come! See you all out there!
